Telangana Marriage Certificate is an important document that serves as proof of a couple’s marriage. This certificate enables the couple to apply for various services and holds legal authority under the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. Moreover it is used to change the name of bride or groom in their Govt ID cards.

The process of obtaining a marriage certificate in Telangana is straightforward, offering two options: online and offline. In this blog, I will guide you through the procedure for both application methods and explain how to apply for a marriage certificate in Telangana.

For Telangana Marriage Registration, the process is similar to that of other states. You need to apply for a marriage certificate at the respective sub-registrar office in your district. There are various acts available, including the Hindu Marriage Act 1955, the Muslim Marriage Act of 1954 and the Special Marriage Act of 1954.

Required Documents For Marriage Registration In Telangana

Documents for Age Proof (Xerox copy & any of the following is suitable)

• Birth Certificate
• SSC Certificate
• Passport
• Government Photo ID having Date Of Birth

Other Documents

• An Affidavit, duly Notarized, stating the marital status, place, time, and date of marriage of the couple.
• An affirmation letter from both the bride and groom, stating their intention to marry without any external threat or force. (optional at some places)
• Photographs of the couple during the marriage ceremony.
• Proof of Residence Certificate of both the couples
• Include three witnesses, each with their Aadhar card, as part of the necessary documentation.
• Original Wedding Cards (both Bride and Groom)
• Include the wedding card with attestation as part of the required documents for the marriage registration process.

Eligibility Criteria For Marriage Certificate Registration

If you wish to apply for a marriage certificate in Telangana, you must adhere to the following criteria:

• The bride should be at least 18 years old, and the groom should be at least 21 years old.
• Both the bride and groom should belong to and reside in India. If either of them is a foreigner, they must provide a no objection certificate.

How To Apply Marriage Certificate Online In Telangana

In this section, I will outline the steps for the online marriage registration process in Telangana. When utilising the online mode, you are required to upload scanned copies of the necessary documents as indicated during the application process.

• Step 1: Visit the official Telangana Marriage Registration Portal to initiate the registration process.
• Step 2: Register as a citizen on the portal to obtain a login ID and password for the next steps. (as shown in below image)
• Step 3: Log in to the registration portal and choose the Hindu Marriage Registration option. Additionally, you will find the option for special marriage registration (a example image as shown in below)
• Step 4: Fill in the necessary details and upload the required scanned copies as indicated in the images below.
• Step 5: Pay the prescribed fee, as shown, and schedule a slot for the physical verification at the sub-registrar’s office.

Upon the registrar verifying your application in person, you will receive the Telangana marriage certificate.

Note: You can submit the application without any penalty within 90 days. If it exceeds this timeframe, you will be required to pay certain penalty charges.

Required Fee Structure – Registration of Marriage in Telangana

• 100/- for Hindu Marriage Act
• 150/- for Special Marriage Act
• Fee receipt will be given once who willing to apply for Marriage Certificate in Telangana.

Validity

• Marriage certificate will be valid for lifetime.
